Blog

  • old times

I posted this up on zee’s blog, so without anything else of interest to put here I’ll copy here.

Back when I was a teen (back when, I’m sounding old) me and my friends (Marty and Scott) would go to the mall to hang out. There’s not a lot to do in Louisburg now, much less 10+ years ago.  We’d go to Crabtree, the most popular and biggest mall in the area then.  We’d walk around, browse the shops, eat in the pavilion, and hit up the arcade.  I remember spending hours and hours in the arcades there.  Me and my friends never looked for trouble anywhere, but if there was one excuse for going to the mall, it kept us out of it.

When Triangle Town Center opened up I was speaking with some of the people who worked there.  I told them I’d come to their mall more often if they had an arcade.  I was told specifically the mall management would not open an arcade because they didn’t want to attract the kids.
I believe the arcade is now gone from Crabtree very recently.  Leaving the only good arcade I know about to be the one at Adventure Landing on capitol.  It’s full of kids games though, some grown up games.  Gillians in downtown has a huge arcade, but they’re all lame shooting games.
When I get rich, I’m definitely opening up a arcade somewhere.

    — i’m adding to my post on her blog now, had some more ideas

When I get rich, I’m definitely opening up a arcade somewhere.  In a huge building, throw in nice PA system, hook up a dj booth and techno the place out.  I’d have a side stage with defunct chuck e cheese animatronic band up there, all retrofited to date.

And I specifically wanted to mention that because

So on youtube there’s these guys that have copies of old chuck e cheese and showbizz pizza videos and shows from when they were big.  They’re posting the old videos they played in the restaurants, and they’ve even got recordings of the animatronics doing their thing.  If you have no idea what I’m talking about, chuck e cheese was a family restaurant back a lonnnng time ago, like 80’s or early 90’s at the latest.  They had a decent kids and teenagers arcade, sold pizza, and had a big room where you could see a cheese animatronic band play the latest tunes and kid songs.  Most of these are now gone, you can read up on a pretty dramitic history of it at wikipedia

My mom used to take me there in Raleigh.  It was on falls of the neuse road, right where it turns into wake forest road i believe.  There’s a bojangles there now, and I think a CVS or something.  But in the shopping center right behind there was where chuck e cheeses’s stood.  I don’t know whats in that spot now, but I think the shopping center is still there.  Anyway, I remember they had the person dressed as a big mouse and he’d come out and greet the kids and things.  When you’re like 5 this was awesome.  So, I remember mom’s driving me home one day and I spot on that road, in a white convertable, chuck e cheese himself cruising down falls of the neuse.  His big ass head sticking out the top of the car, I dont know how the guy kept it up.  But he was waving at all the cars and my mom honked and he waved!! aww the rat waved at me!  Of course, then I probabaly thought he was real, so I was pretty excited.

    Well anyway, i’m rambling

Anyway, the animatronic show was pretty neat, it had several characters on 3 different stages.  They would ‘play’ the song by moving and wobbling around.  I was so fascinated by the whole thing.  Even now.  To look back that long ago and remember that stupid show, technicaly it was pretty impressive.  Others thought so too.  People have been buying up the old units and setting them up in their houses and garages, retrofitting them and getting them all working again as a hobby.  This guy has this whole setup in his house, it gives you a good idea of the main stage.  Keep in mind these things are huge.  It still plays the old songs:

Well, some guys have been trying to reverse engineer the animatronics and making their own shows.  They finally manged to create a custom interface for a USB port and some software that interfaces directly with the original system.  Here’s one of the first full shows they put together, which is pretty awesomely done:

The other night I found this hilarous one, It’s just so funny thinking this playing to a bunch of kids!  hope you enjoy:

  • escapades

I so am in the mood to write, but I just can’t think of a good poem or story.  So I’ll tell you about my latest escapedes.

Last weekend, the whootah crew, family and friends infiltrated Africa at the NC zoo.  Pictures here:  http://flickr.com/photos/radialmonster/sets/72157600306301540/detail/

Tuesday, I met Heather at Chili’s where we had a good dinner, and afterwards I failed at talking her into visiting the parking lot theme park the carnies had setup.  We were debating if they were even running the thing as there didnt seem to be much action going on, but occasionally something would move or someone would walk around.  Still, the Himalayan type ride, the pirate ship and the slingshot were out there in full force for willing victims.

That night after settling back in at home, a storm was abrewing outside.  I started getting messages around 11 about something wrong at work so I logged in to check it out.  I came to the conclusion  a switch had failed and around 11:45 hit the road to check it out. I pull out of my driveway and onto the road and almost immediately a big strike of lightning occurs and a deer jumps right out in front of me.  I was going so slow I came to a complete stop when I saw him and he jumped right across the road.  Having hit a deer only a month ago and doing $3500 damage to my car, I just sat there in the road for a few seconds and thought that would of really sucked to have hit that deer right after I got my car all fixed up.  Luckily I didn’t hit him though.  So, I started on my way and just about as soon as I press the gas and get going another deer jumps right across and I slam into him.  He rolled up on my hood and then fell back down and into the road.  Then he just sat there.  I thought well, he’s freaked out apparantly.  And he just sat there right in the road for a good while.  The he tried to get up and couldn’t.  Thats when I realized his back legs must be broken.  I was right across from my dad’s house so I tried calling him to see if he wanted a deer, but my step mom marie answered and told me my dad was out of town.  So I hung up, and by that time the deer started to use his front legs and pulled himself across the road and went into the woods.  I just know his back legs were both broke.  but what am I supposed to do?  I’d never find him I’m sure. So I turned around and went back home to see what damage was done.

After taking pictures, I debated about even going to work as the storm was still pretty strong, but decided to head on, not like I had anything to say goodbye to at home anyway.  On the way there, (about 30 miles) I almost hit 5 different deer.  They were just freaking out at the storm apparantly.  And as I drove I thought, well it doesn’t matter if I hit one now, so might as well just keep going.  I get there, and everything was ok.  Apparantly the power had died for a while and now the power had came back on and everything was fine.  Estimate for damage this time is right at $3000.

Didn’t do a lot this weekend, about all my friends were out of town so just hung around the house, did some cleaning, played some games, cut grass, that sort of thing.  Relaxed.

My animazement pictures from a few weeks ago now have over 8000 views.  In all I have 13,849 pictures and 48,402 views on my flickr.

Back to the ho hum tomorrow.  I have a feeling this week will be a full one of major decisions, so when I know something for sure I’ll keep you updated.

    on the 100th episode
of the Simpson’s, Bart wrote on the blackboard “I will not celebrate meaningless
milestones”.  does that mean anything to you today?  but i wont dwell
on that.        Tio used the bathroom on her
newspaper today.  good job.  It’s a shame they don’t just make rolls of
paper like that you can just buy in bulk to be used as a piss collector.
how would you feel if you spent long hours working on writing an article, and it
was good enough to be published, thousands of people read it, and all that
becomes of it is some creature dumps his load on it and then it’s put in a big
metal barrel and burned.  i feel bad every time i put a fresh batch down.
i would hate to know that you do that to my web site.  lay the monitor on
its side and drop your load onto the screen then close the browser window in
haste.  i felt creative tonight.  i even loaded up fruity loops to
work on a song.  but that’s as far as i got.  so i came here.
lets see what becomes of it.

A guy walked up to me today and ask about my past.  I said
why do you want to know about my past?  He said I want to know of your past
because my past is the same as your past.  Then if you already know your
past, you know my past, so I have no reason to tell you anything.  He said
I don’t think you understand.  I used to be you in my former life.
come on now, that can’t be.  it is.  see when you die, you will become
someone as well.  problem i have is i didn’t finish my mission my last
life, so now you’re here to see if you can do it.  if you don’t, then you
will be replaced too.  why is this?  how can this be?  God has a
will for everything.  you are destined to do something really great.
but you may be distracted by evil.  you will dishonor your God and you will
have to be replaced so you can continue your quest.  Then what is my quest?
I can not tell you that.  my quest is to finish this story, and i can
already tell that’s not going to happen.  so see ya

    ok that
was fun.  did you know America has been donated 14 cows from a tribe in
    Kenya?  like just this week.
    read all about it

  • origins

Someone asked me recenlty about how I came up with radialmonster.  Don’t know that I’ve ever explained that here, so here goes.

Years and years ago, before the internet even, I was maybe 15?  Just guessing.  There were services called bulletin boards that you could call up to and get on an online service.  You could message, download files, do discussions, play games.  But it was only local stuff, just some guy would run it as a hobby. Anyway, I started checking them out and at first I didnt know any better and used my real name.  Well, as time went on then you get people that start knowing your name and things and the online thing suddenly doesn’t seem so fun once it’s not so anonymous.  I mean nothing bad happened at all, just saying.

So I decided I needed a name.  A cool name aha So I just started thinking about names and I was actually using the toilet one day (hey, you asked aha) and I somehow thought of the name Radial.  I thought ya that sounded pretty cool, and I hadn’t seen anyone else use something close to that.  But seemed pretty short, so I decided on a second part to be Monster.  No particular reason or meaning, simply because I thought it sounded cool.  And that it did, and the name has stuck.

I normally just use radial online but some places I don’t sign up quick enough and have to use radialmonster. I know there’s a guy in the Philippines, and one in Canada who have used radial before.  So if you see radial anywhere it’s probably me, but if you see radialmonster somewhere it’s almost positively me.

The second story is about my nickname. Chicken.

I was maybe 18 or so working as a bagger at the local Winn-Dixie grocery store.  Me and the cashier Jama were good friends, went to high school together, and hung out together numerous times.  We’d always joke around and one day she was telling me about someone she knew that had all sorts of piercings.  I was bagging for this old lady there, and the lady behind her was listening to the conversation.  She started telling Jama that was sick stuff, how nasty that was.  So I told the lady Oh I did all that stuff once.  Jama, of course, knew differently.  And there it started.

The lady said “Did you really?” I said ya… I got my ears pierced, my nose, my eyebrown, a chain between them all.  Jama’s laughing, the lady’s getting sicker by the minute.  I was milking it up and she was believing it all.  And then for some brief second, I for some reason then said “I even had my chicken pierced.”  I must of been bagging some chicken or something.  I didn’t even realize what I said, or what it could mean.  The lady’s mouth gasped wide open, and I just nonchalantly then took out the groceries for the old lady I was bagging for.  I go back inside, and the cashier’s busting out laughing.  The lady had already left, and before leaving she asked Jama “So how does he have sex??”

Ever since then, nickname has been chicken, and that particular part of the male anatomy has been referred to as chicken.

  • My Animazement 2007 favorite pics

It’s very hard to choose favorite cosplayers, I take pictures of just about all the ones I like.  If you’re not listed here, I still love you!  With over 1100 pictures, I can’t possibly highlight all of them.  That said, here is a small collection of SOME of the pictures that I think turned out great, they have great costumes, I captured them in a great pose, I want to be sure people see these great pics, or I just think these girls are hot aha.  Some of the pictures are posed, being I would direct them to some extent, or modify the picture a bit.  For instance, the very first one here, These 3 people were sitting separate, the girl on the right was on the floor.  The umbrella was laying to the side if I remember right.  But they were talking as I walked by so I assumed they were together and I asked for a pose.  I could just see it in my mind, this exact pose. I asked them all, I said I don’t know if you want to do this or not, but I’d like for you (the girl on the right) to sit here in his lap, and have the guy hold the umbrella, I just know it will make a great pic, and they did and that it did.  The girls a few pics down with the glow sticks, Anime Hell was just about to start, they just dimmed the lights and I saw they had glowsticks.  I practically knocked Scott out of his seat to jump over him to get there as and asked if they’d hold them up so I could try the pic.  Turned out great.  Faye Valetine captured my heart as she held her hand out for me to help her down for the pose.  I obliged and helped her back up as well.  The tarot card reader, after she read my fortune, I asked for her pic, and asked if I could spread the cards out in front of her and pose her.  She said sure, but she said “first let me get these dollar bills out of my titties” and she pulled a wad of money from her shirt aha.  Aries sleeping in the lap of the other girl, hm, cloud?, They were really relaxing like that as I walked by, and I saw and thought what a great pic, leaned in and whispered to her if I could snap a shot, just stay right there they said of course.  That I did, and showed it to them both, the Aries as she continued to lay right there and she said “awwww we’re so cute!” that you are.  The girl leaning up with her back against the wall posing, she actually did the pose.  But this was the second shot.  First shot, she had sat her water bottle down on the window sill there and I took the pic and said “I”m going to move this over here, you’re up there all pretty and everything and then there’s this big water bottle to the side!”  she agreed, and resulted in this pic.  Kiki was just the perfect Kiki.  I told her that a few times as I passed by her throughout the con.  The last Rinoa made the perfect Rinoa.  The two beautiful blondes in white towards the end both said she wasn’t even dressed as anybody, I said that’s ok you’re just as pretty anyway.  Gosh just so many stories behind some of the pics.  Wish I could do more.  Anyway, Read my full con report here.  Enjoy –

I have uploaded All the pictures from the Animazement 2007 weekend. 1,184 to be exact!!  It already has over 3000 views itself.  My total flickr stream right now has 13,452 photos / 41,327 views

This post will be my con report, and will contain some pictures from the weekend.  Yes, I know there’s a lot here, but as I said these are only some of the pics, these are my favorites, although it’s really hard to pic favorites from my pics.  To see all the pictures, please click the below links.

Now, to start the report – Me 20070525_002 and scott 20070525_001 went Friday evening after I got off work.  Pre-registration line was only like 1 person long, so it didnt take long to jump right in.  Saturday morning registrations at the door were out lining up outside the hotel, I imagind it would take over an hour to go through that line!  My favorite thing to do at the con is take pictures, so I jumped right in.  Didn’t get to do the dealers room Friday as it was already closed by the time we got there.  So, friday night consisted of just browsing around, artists alley, the game room.

They had 3 huge screen projectors setup, one with a sega saturn with bomberman, 6 player no doubt, and 2 wii’s setup. One with wii sports and one that I only assume was mario party or something or another. They also had DDR, guitar hero, and numerous fighting games.

jaming with the guys making awesome music, who were playing at one point near the restaurant.  Everyone was enjoying it from what I could see, even the people down in the pit, until some restaurant dude came up and gave them the cut throght signal.  So, they went outside right at the front doors and setup shop, and a good time was had by all.

and then of course anime hell.  This year was maybe my favorite one.  Can’t go wrong with teenage japanese girl boobies.  We had intended to leave around 11:30 pm, but we were enjoying hell so much we stayed for the whole thing.  which was around 2:00am.

After hell, we finally headed home, dropped scott off, and when i got home it was almost 3.  Not giving up yet, I dumped off all my pictures from my cameras.  I had to anyway, as I needed the space for the next day.  After dumping, I decided to go ahead and process them, do some basic tagging, and uploaded them to flickr.  Finally got to bed around 3:30 or so.   Got back up at 7:30 saturday morn to start all over.  Picked up scott, stopped at the bojangles for a crappy biscuit and arrived to head straight to the dealers room, where scott racked it up.  I bought 2 tshirts and registered for next year.

I left to take more pictures (i’ll post some a little further down) while scott did some writing.  Met dewee 20070526_462 who wanted me to join him in the dealers room, but I had to explain I was just there, and I come to take pictures, so thats where I was going.  So off I headed for a few hours to take pictures.  I decided to take a break and visit the karate demonstration.  Lost of high flying jumps and falls. Where they jumped in the air, 20070526_339, then jumped over not 1 20070526_356, not 2 20070526_357, 3 20070526_354, 4 20070526_408, 5 20070526_403, 6 20070526_422, 7 20070526_417, 8 20070526_388, but a total of 9 people!!

They then proceeded to throw each other down and around, and then invited audience members to throw them around and down

When that was over, I of course left to go take more pictures until I ran into scott and dewee again. We then left for lunch, where we enjoyed a big meal at hooters.  We all ate up and decided the girls at hooters couldn’t compare to the girls at the con, so we went back.  Upon arriving and walking up to the hotel I saw they were starting a big kingdom hearts photoshoot outside in the grass, so I bid scott and dew farewell yet again, and took more pics.  Someone had a big micky plushie, so they borrowed that and everyone bowed down to their king.  Lots of cool action shots, various groupings, and general mayhem, all culminating into a big cha-cha dance.

Back inside, (in between taking pictures of cosplayers) I found people forming a big dance in the hallway, post it note guy who invited everyone to write messages on his post it notes and stick them to him, got my tarot card reading, to which my answer was yes (sorry, can’t tell you the question), and spotted the beginnings of a katamari ball.

It was around this time that dewee was going to be heading home, and scott wasn’t feeling so good, so they left, leaving me there alone.  At around 8:00pm, I briefly wondered what I was going to do for the rest of the night, then quickly realized where I was.  I was at an anime convention, and if you don’t have fun there, and don’t meet some great people you’re doing something wrong.  I decided not to attend cosplay.  Which left me with a huge variety of other options.  Besides the other stuff going on like the video game room and the video rooms showing anime, there’s always something else going on if you just pay attention and have fun.

I could just randomly walk around and take more pictures.  But I thought wow, like 4 hours (4 hours because I wanted to attend the dance at midnight) of that I may run out of cosplayers since most were actually in the cosplay.  So, I did take some pics, but then thought hmmm….

I could have a big dessert in the restaurant since I had no dinner.  (we ate lunch late so we wouldnt have to have dinner as we normally dont have time to eat).

I could watch cosplay in one of the 2 remote viewing areas, one being in the lobby outside the cosplay room where they had erected a huge projection screen, and the other was the auditorium which had stadium seating and a huge screen also.

I could of hung out with the wierdo who sat beside me in the lobby. He was so proud of his new green laser from spencers that cost $40 bucks.  I told him he should of went to the dollar tree. He said yea, but then you’d get some red laser.  He then proceeded to say “hey you see that girl over there in the skirt?  I’m going to light up her…. area.”  and he’d giggle.  And of course he was trying to shine it ‘there’ but he got frustrated by the ‘fat’ people in his way.  (they were not fat) and complained about her closing up her legs. after a while he moved on i guess after realizing i wasn’t interested.

I could of played hackysack (i did try to hit it one time but it went flying off into nowhere)

I could of played keep the condom off the floor.

I could of danced in the hallway with the great musician guys

I finally decided to help with the katamari ball.  I found it when it was still pretty small.  It stats as a small beach ball, then people pile trash on it and tape it together.  Then more trash on top of that trash, taped together.

    20070526_020

and my first item contribution was a towlette from hooters

to which all the girls saw and screamed “Hooters!?!?!”  I said well, I had to eat lunch somewhere!  So, what you do is roll your ball to a new location (rolling over anything in it’s path to gobble it up), get to a good stoping place, stop, and you have 30 seconds (we abandonded this rule later) to pile trash on it and secure it to the ball. Then, once the 30 seconds are up, or you can find no more trash, get it moving to the new location.  It’s a big job, and we ineveatebly assigned ourselves roles.

    Some people moved the ball,

some found trash to put on the ball, some taped the trash to the ball,

and some picked up the left over pieces that would fall off sometimes behind the ball.   I helped some with finding trash, getting it to the ball and placing it on so others could tape it, and picked up left over trash and got it to the girl carrying the trash bag  But I mainly, of course, was the photographer.  I ran around with them to take pics as it was fun as hell.  It started out small as you can see here (yes i know it looks big already, just wait until you see the big version), keep watching it grow as you view the pictures.

We rolled it down the hallway several times, back and fourth back and fouth, threatening to gobble up people, singing the theme song of course

Until finally we decided to take it outside.

There had been flashlights put in it at some point, left turned on no less, and glowsticks.  So outside, you could really see it lighting up!

yes, we got to a point where there was a dead end, and we had to roll it down this hill.  So, just let it rip aha

Found someone who was cleaning out their car, so we took the opportunity to help!

We were all tired by this point so took it up to some doors that were exit doors, but had water on the other side.  Took some time and secured the ball, then took a water break outside while someone passed water through the doors.  The guy at the door let us in finally since they were double doors and big enough to allow the ball to pass.

then on we went down the hall!

Until we ran up with a group making a competing katamari ball!!

They were pretty mad, apparantly this girl (as she posted a comment on this picture) and her group started it last year and wanted to do it again this year.  We tried to assimilate their ball into hours as is what you do in the video game, but they would have none of it.  After that encounter and continued on, we quickly ran into the king!  We offered him our ball, as in the game, and we all rejoiced!

We then ran into the decision of what to do next, we had offered our ball to the king, but wanted to keep going.  Problem was we were dangerously low on tape.  It was taking tons and tons of tape to secure this thing.  We put out the call “Bring out your tape!” and we were gifted numerous rolls!

We continued on with our huge ball, gobbling up everything we could, and running down the hallway letting it clear our path!

We stopped again to rest and have water.  Then, we saw ‘not a snake guy’ in his cardboard box, and of course tried to assimilate him too!

He avoided our attemps and ran off, but we wouldnt give up.  Meantime, we took some group pictures.  Thanks to the girl who took my pic with my camera.

We didnt even go anywhere and people started bringing us stuff. Nice stuff.  This one lady brought us armor from her costume.  Some guy gave us nice plushie dolls!

We continued on, running into not a snake and cornering him near the refreshment room, almost getting his box!  But he avoided yet again! So off we went again

At this point, we had a big decision. What to do with the ball. It was midnight already, everone was tired.  One person said to get with an artist and see if we could store it behind one of their tables.  One of the guys with us was with a group running a video room.  He said we could store the ball there overnight, then get it sunday and continue on. There was talk about putting it in the art auction on sunday.  But, then someone from the hotel made the decision that it could not be left inside.  So, we took it outside again.  One of our guys decided he wanted to put it on his car.  So that we did

They taped it to the car, rolled the windows down and taped it through the roof. They used all 4 windows. I then pointed out that now he can’t open any doors.  Good point they said.  I then also pointed out it meant they would not be able to roll up one window.  Another good point.  So, we didnt care about that at the moment, we decided to drive around.  Some people hopped in through the window and we drove it up to the front lobby!  But before leaving, the guy had a piece from the katamari ball from last year!  After the ball was secure on the car, he planted the piece on it like mounting a big flag.  Then off we went to the front!

Several people came out to look, we rested around again outside for a while, then we took the ball down. One of the people said they could put it where his car was parked as he was staying at the hotel.  I bid everyone thanks for the times, told them about my pictures, then headed inside.  One of the ladies asked one of the hotel workers if they’d ever seen a convention clean up after itself, he said he’d never seen anything like it!

I then headed inside to the dance as I wanted to experience that before leaving

After leaving the dance, those guys were still playing, so i stuck around to listen to them for a while

Then finally decided it was time to go.  It was about 1am at this point and very tired.  Plus I had to get up early again!  But, on the way out, I ran into yet another group who had just started to play a game.  People partnered up, and he’d tell a story.  And when he said certian words you had to do certian things, and the last one to do them was kicked out of the game.  The last one standing won.  So hung around there a bit watching, then finally left around 1:30am.

Sunday attended the craftsmanship contest, where cosplayers get judged based on the quality of their costume by independent judges.  The cosplayers got up and told about thier costume and how they made it, so pretty interesting.  After that, just hung around, I browsed the artist alley, scott picked up his artwork he had commissioned, then headed home.  I took a big nap that evening, and started working on all these pictures!!  Finally, got the pictures uploaded on Monday morning.  it’s 1:30am tuesday morning now, and i so need to sleep.  so i’m going to pause here for the con report.  maybe i’ll edit this with some pics of sunday, but for now i’m going to bed.  check this post back later.  I’ll make another post with my favorite cosplay pictures in it when i can.

Been busy with work and havent had a lot of time to sit and write.   But have lots of cool things going on, last weekend me and Lindsey went to see the North Carolina Symphony Orchestra doing a tribute to Pink Floyd.  It was kick ass.  (I told her I’d say that specifically, true to my word).  I’m not sure if I ever saw the orchestra in the new hall before, and it did sound pretty awesome.  I’d be interested to see just the orchestra perform, or even a regular musical act perform there as the sound is great. I sat there listening to the volume the strings were at and realized it would be very hard to recreate that sound using speakers, no matter the source.  Strings are very hard to recreate so hearing them live was pretty awesome.

This weekend is jam packed with Animazement in Durham.  I have 2 cameras ready this time, not sure which one I’ll use the most.  I’ll be heading there right after work today and will be going until Sunday.  Be sure to check for all the pictures after the con.

Next weekend we’re heading to the NC Zoo in Asheboro.  Later in June we’ll be heading to the beach for a weekend trip.  You’re missing out, join us on the whootah forums for upcoming events for more info on these and more events.

  • Redemption vs. Hope

So, I just got done watching Shawshank Redemption for the first time.  Recieved it for Christmas from Aunt and Uncle.  Great story, made me think, and here I am thinking so much I want to write about it.  It’s late and I’m just going to ramble so enjoy.

I feel institutionalized (wow i spelled that right the first time typing it??) myself.  The characters in the movie grasp with very long term prison sentences.  One guy had 50 years.  He was paroled, let out, and no where to go.  State gave him some grocery job, put him up in a halfway house.  But, being in jail for 50 years, he had nothing in the real world.  His life, though now free, was more difficult for him than in jail.  Didn’t know how to act, what to do, where to go.  (no i’m not going to spoil the movie for you)  The ‘rehabilitation’ of jail did nothing to prepare the inmates for the outside world beyond their walls.  And thats where I am. Out here in the real world, looking but no where to go.  When there’s a glimpse of hope, it disappears, time and time again.  Enough to make you give up.  Stop searching.  It’s a waste of time.  With every attempt there’s a ‘nice try’ at the end.  Cupcakes waiting and all.  But then, right back out there, trying to see what’s next.  I’m not in jail, never have been.  Well, I felt like it a few times.  I’m already out in the real world.  And I still don’t know where to go.  Which is worse?

The thoughts of the movie are too great for me to attempt to translate into this little feeling I’m trying to analogize it into.  Or my writing skills have failed me, or it’s just late, or maybe there really is no connection.  Sorry to disappoint.  I just can’t seem to get a good kicker line, the ending feeling I so love to give.  I could ramble all night I’m sure.  It’s only about 1 am.  Actually I’m already yawning.  Good night.
